This dedication was placed opposite the title page in each of the Reading Horizons manuals. The Reading Horizon Manuals Donated by Yukie Yamaski Namba Dedicated to her parents Jinroku and Yasuyo Yamsaki It was hard times in the early 1900’s when Jinroku and Yasuyo Yamasaki emigrated from Japan to the United States. They came in search of opportunities to improve their living conditions. After my parents married in 1917, they settled on a small farm in Rexburg, Idaho which became their home for their lifetimes. They struggled to learn English and to adapt to their new American way of life. My mother was especially passionate about reading. Unfortunately, the books available to her were printed in English which she could not read. Thus, these Horizon Reading manuals are dedicated to my parents, in behalf of those who are striving to learn the English language.
